Quiet Oaks Hospice House Construction
In November 2007, the Quiet Oaks Hospice House Board of Directors faced a difficult decision. The fundraising campaign begun in 2006 had been extremely successful, but Board members were concerned by a lull in cash donations. Despite this challenge they were convinced that the Quiet Oaks project must move forward. Their wisdom was affirmed when, a few days after their Board meeting, a congratulatory letter arrived from the Morgan Family Foundation, announcing that they had granted Quiet Oaks Hospice House a $250,000 challenge grant. The credibility of this grant sparked new interest and encouraged donors, who matched the grant in six weeks. This helped launch Quiet Oaks into the construction phase and they broke ground on December 11, 2007. Outstanding efforts from GLT Architects and Winkleman Building created a beautiful setting for residents and families in time for the October, 2008 opening.
